Way back in my first homebrew game I created a weapon that held nearly limitless potential in its potency. I’ve improved, and evolved it into the Stonemold Hammer. A weapon of the earth. The hammer was created using the heart of a Dao Lord. The heart was manipulated and shaped into the core of this rod. The amber gem at the pommel is a type of magic crystal gifted by a Zaratan. According to legend it was forged by a warrior born of the Elemental Plane of Earth on a crusade to save their people from bondage and slavery.

Reworking this item from so long ago is really interesting. I can see some clear improvements to my methodology when making these items. Originally I intended to use different bands that you would add to the rod to give it a progression, but I decided to change it to something similar to Vestiges of Divergence from Critical Role. I think that having the player keep a constant eye out for modifications to make their weapon better seemed limiting. Changing it to make it more central to the characters personal progression made it more interesting. Eventually I will release a version of the Stonemold Hammer with its evolutions. Revisiting old creations has been interesting and I can’t wait to share the other improvements I will make to them.
